Cascina Bric After decades of winemaking under the Viberti family name Gianluca Viberti decided it was time to navigate a unique independent path. In 2010 he purchased some land in Barolo where he now farms at the highest peaks in the commune with elevations averaging 460m. Cascina Tiole Barolo Magnum 2012 quantity. Casina Bric is the expression of Barolo where nature and man, style and energy, perfectly meld together to tell a very genuine story at its highest altitude and quality. The winery gets its name from the Piedmontese hilltop farm that dominates the picturesque Barolo at 460 meters above sea level.

460 CASINA BRIC S.A.R.L. Vintage: 2013: Production Area: This is the case of Barolo Bricco delle Viole, a pure expression of terroir and altitude from vineyards which are among the most elevated in Barolo, ranging between 420 and 480 meters. Type: Red Table Wine: Alcohol: 14%. Given that Gianluca is from Vergne it’s only logical and re-assuring that his single vineyard Barolo should come from the village’s top vineyard: Bricco delle Viole; the fruit coming from his second, west-facing parcel at close to 460 meters above sea level, up above and behind the garage-like cantina/winery. Less complex, perhaps without the addition of other vineyards, it makes up for it.

Spicy yet holding back on the nose. Impressive concentration of fruit on the palate kept in check by perfectly built grainy tannins.

Color: garnet moving to tawny
Nose: started with big dried cherry and anise, opens to cigar box, eucalyptus and violet
Palate: red fruits, plum and white pepper
Mouthfeel: soft but tight, round medium finish
